College of Emergency Management Holds Faculty Symposium

On September 10, the College of Emergency Management held a Teacher's Day symposium themed Strengthening Teachers with the Spirit of Educators, Composing a Splendid Chapter in Building a Powerful Education Nation. Attended by College Party Committee Secretary Cheng Fang, Dean Xue Yong, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Dean Xu Haibo, Vice Dean Wang Junfeng, and all full-time faculty members, the meeting was presided over by Xu Haibo.

At the beginning of the meeting, Xue Yong, on behalf of the college leadership, expressed sincere gratitude to the faculty for their long-term contributions to the college's educational endeavors. He then elaborated on the new developments and challenges in the current educational landscape of the emergency management field, emphasizing the importance of promoting the spirit of educators in enhancing the quality of education and cultivating high-quality emergency management talent. He also outlined the college's future development plans, directions for teaching reform, and pathways for faculty professional growth, encouraging teachers to actively engage in educational innovation and contribute collectively to building a powerful education nation.

Cheng Fang fully acknowledged the faculty's achievements in scientific research, teaching, and talent cultivation, thanking all teachers for their strong support and continuous empowerment of the college's various tasks. She called on all staff to maintain high morale and a proactive spirit. She pointed out that the college will steadfastly promote connotative development, deepen the Double Excellence initiative in Party building, and fully leverage Party building as a strong engine and radiating force. The college will continue to consolidate the foundation of discipline construction, striving to achieve new growth points in disciplines; intensify graduate student recruitment efforts to improve both the quantity and quality of enrolled students; and optimize program offerings to better adapt to the evolving talent demands in the emergency management field. Building on the positive momentum of securing five National Natural Science Foundation projects and one National Social Science Foundation project this year, she urged maintaining a clear perspective, recognizing existing challenges, and fully initiating a new round of national fund applications. She emphasized that the college would carefully study and summarize the valuable opinions and suggestions put forward by everyone, ensuring the effective implementation of reasonable requests and continuously advancing the college's work to new levels. She expects every teacher to act as a promoter for the college, sharing achievements and enhancing the college's influence through various channels, and also to serve as talent scouts, actively recommending high-quality faculty to join, thereby strengthening the teaching team through talent recruitment as a breakthrough. This will continuously improve the teaching proficiency and research capabilities of the faculty, laying a solid foundation for the college's high-quality development.

During the symposium, participating faculty, based on their practical roles, engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on aspects of education, teaching, and scientific research. Drawing from their teaching experiences and the college's current situation, they offered numerous valuable opinions and suggestions on how to improve teaching quality, enhance scientific research innovation, optimize curriculum design, and elevate cultivation standards. The attending teachers unanimously expressed that they would take this symposium as a starting point to further enhance communication and interaction, jointly contributing their wisdom and strength to the development of the college.

This symposium served not only as a heartwarming meeting to consolidate faculty consensus and enhance team cohesion and sense of belonging but also as an empowering meeting to chart the course and clarify the path for the college's future development. It is believed that through the joint efforts of all college staff, the college will play a more resounding and inspiring movement in the great journey of building a powerful education nation, composing its own brilliant chapter.
