In the summer of 2025, the Emergency Star science popularization volunteer service team of the School of Emergency Management will carry out in-depth emergency science promotion activities by integrating social practices with large-scale initiatives such as Sanxiaxiang (rural support program), National University Students Emergency Science Popularization Tour, and Meteorological Disaster Prevention and Reduction Awareness Volunteer China Tour.

To fully deploy the summer social practice activities, clarify goals and requirements, the School held a launch and training conference on the afternoon of June 30 in Room C206 of the No. 2 Discipline Building. Attendees included Dean Xue Yong of the School of Emergency Management, Associate Director Huang Xinhui of the Student Affairs Office, and student representatives.

Dean Xue Yong emphasized that social practice serves as a crucial platform for the growth and development of university students. This year’s summer social practice marks the first mission of the school’s Emergency Star science popularization volunteer service team and represents an important action in response to the national call for modernizing emergency management. He noted that with frequent emergencies occurring in China, enhancing public safety and emergency response capabilities is urgent. Emergency science promotion offers university students a significant opportunity to leverage their professional strengths and contribute to national strategies. Dean Xue also stressed the importance of safety during the实践活动, requiring students to carry out activities in an organized and disciplined manner.

Huang Xinhui systematically and detailedly assigned specific tasks for this social practice, encouraging students to conduct innovative science promotion tailored to local conditions.

At the end of the conference, Dean Xue presented letters of appointment as Emergency Star Science Ambassadors to the students participating in the social practice.

Focusing on science promotion + practice, this summer’s social practice activity aims to achieve three key goals and enhance public emergency response capabilities through the Five Outreach initiative, while allowing students to refine their professional skills through service. The training conference laid a solid foundation for the activity, and both faculty and students expressed enthusiasm for active participation and contribution.
