The college boasts strong teaching and research capabilities with a vibrant academic atmosphere. It has established several teaching and research teams in areas such as integrated application of communication, navigation, and remote sensing in meteorological emergency management, environmental emergency monitoring and risk assessment, electrical safety in lightning protection and industrial safety, meteorological disaster monitoring, early warning, and risk management, smart emergency response to meteorological disasters and resilient cities, and public safety governance research.
In recent years, the college has undertaken nearly 60 national-level research projects, including those under the National Key R&D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, and various ministerial-level initiatives. It has published over 860 papers in core and higher-tier academic journals, of which more than 630 have been indexed in SSCI, SCI(E), and authoritative Chinese journals. Additionally, the college has obtained 67 patents, published nearly 20 monographs and textbooks, and received six provincial- or ministerial-level scientific awards for its achievements.
